BCFPD Trustees Approve 2019-2020 Officer Slate
LAKE BARRINGTON, IL—Members of the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) Board of Trustees approved an updated leadership slate that retains the current Board President and Vice President for another one-year term, but welcomes a new Treasurer and Secretary:
Keith Hanson: President
Mr. Hanson, who begins his fourth term as BCFPD President, joined the BCFPD Board in 2015 and has also served as the District’s Vice President. He is managing partner of a Barrington-based law firm that specializes in commercial law
As counsel to many nonprofit organizations, Mr. Hanson has helped establish a variety of charitable and advocacy groups. He works with local business, government and philanthropic leaders to promote programs that help young people and those facing personal crises. He also teaches Political Science at Trinity International University, Deerfield, IL.
Mr. Hanson and his wife, Stephanie, have lived in the District for 23 years. They have five children, all of whom are graduates of Barrington High School.
Thomas C. Long, M.D.: Vice President
Dr. Long continues as BCFPD Vice President and has also served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer since his appointment to the Board in 1995. He has lived in the District for 35 years.
Board-certified in Emergency and Family Medicine, Dr. Long is a former Associate Medical Director for the Northwest Community and Elgin emergency medical systems.
Matthew J. Hower: Treasurer
Mr. Hower was elected to his first term as BCFPD Treasurer, after being appointed to the Board in 2018. He is Founder and Principal of a private holding company that identifies early stage firms for investment.
Mr. Hower and his wife, Lisa, moved to the District in 2017. They have four adult sons.
Marvin Hill: Secretary
Mr. Hill, the Board’s new Secretary, has also served as BCFPD President, Vice President, and multiple terms as Treasurer since joining the Board in 2003. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts and is the BCFPD’s legislative liaison to the Illinois General Assembly.
Mr. Hill, a 20-year District resident, is the former owner of a northwest suburban-based printing company. He and his wife, Jill, have two daughters: Jessica and Alison.
Paul J. Struck: Trustee
Mr. Struck, the fifth member of the Board, has served multiple terms as BCFPD Secretary since his 2013 appointment. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees and Zoning Board of Appeals in Lake Barrington, one of the communities the BCFPD serves.
Mr. Struck, an IT professional and business process consultant, has lived in the area for 18 years. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.
