Trustees Elect Thomas Rowan BCFPD President
Trustees elected Thomas P. Rowan to serve as 2011-12 BCFPD President during the Board’s May 16 meeting. He succeeds Marvin Hill, who becomes Vice President.
Trustees also elected Thomas C. Long, M.D., to serve as Treasurer, and re-elected Board Secretary Walter W. Dalitsch, D.V.M, a veterinarian with a practice in Barrington.
Trustee Paul M. Heinze continues his service as a BCFPD Board member.
Thomas P. Rowan: President
Mr. Rowan has managed the Fire District’s Website and public information efforts since his appointment to the Board in 2008. A District resident for the past 21 years, he served as Fire District Treasurer prior to being elected President.
An advertising professional with more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Rowan is President and CEO of a firm that specializes in advertising, communications and web content.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN, in 1969, and began his professional career as an associate editor with a national magazine that reports on marketing and media. Mr. Rowan then spent two years in the United States Army – including a one-year tour in Vietnam.
Marvin Hill: Vice President
Mr. Hill has served as BCFPD President and Treasurer since being appointed to the Board in 2003. He helped negotiate the current intergovernmental agreement between the BCFPD and Village of Barrington for fire protection services, and oversaw initial development of the District’s Website. In addition, Mr. Hill is Area Representative to the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts.
He is the former owner of a northwest suburban-based printing company, past President of the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce, and has served on the Hoffman Estates Economic Development Commission. Mr. Hill has lived in the District since 1999.
Thomas C. Long. M.D.: Treasurer
Dr. Long has served as BCFPD President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer since his appointment to the Board in 1995. He has lived in the District for 27 years.
Board Certified in Emergency and Family Medicine, Dr. Long serves as a medical consultant to insurance companies. He is a former Associate Project Medical Director for the Northwest Community and Elgin emergency medical systems.
Paul M. Heinze: Board Member
Mr. Heinze has served multiple terms as Board President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer in his 18 years of service to the Fire District.
A 33-year District resident, Mr. Heinze owns a Barrington Hills-based consulting business that provides executive coaching, teambuilding, acquisition and strategic planning services.
The BCFPD Board of Trustees meets the third Monday of each month, 6:30 p.m., at the Barrington Public Safety Building, 400 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington, IL.
