Fire District Trustees Elect 16-Year Veteran Paul Heinze as 2009-10 Board President
Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) Trustees have elected Paul M. Heinze to serve as 2009-10 Board President. He succeeds Thomas C. Long, M.D., who was elected Vice President.
Trustees re-elected Walter W. Dalitsch, D.V.M., a veterinarian with a practice in Barrington, as Secretary; and Mr. Marvin Hill as Treasurer.
BCFPD President: Paul Heinze
Mr. Heinze owns a Barrington Hills-based consulting business that provides executive coaching, teambuilding, acquisition and strategic planning services.
Appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1993, he has served multiple terms as Board President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Heinze has been a District resident for 31 years.
BCFPD Vice President: Thomas Long, M.D.
Dr. Long is Board Certified in Emergency and Family Medicine, and serves as a medical consultant to insurance companies. A District resident since 1984, Dr. Long received appointment to the BCFPD Board in 1995. He has previously served as Board Secretary, Treasurer and President.
Dr. Long is a former Associate Project Medical Director for both the Northwest Community and Elgin emergency medical systems. Before that, he served as medical director for eight paramedic services in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
BCFPD Treasurer: Marvin Hill
Mr. Hill brings more than a decade of investment management experience to his role as BCFPD Treasurer. Appointed to the Board in 2003, he had a key role in negotiating the 2005 intergovernmental agreement for fire protection services between the District and Village of Barrington, and oversaw development of the District’s Website. He also serves as Area Representative to the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts
A District resident since 1999, Mr. Hill is the former owner of a northwest suburban-based printing company. He is Past President of the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce, a former Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club Board member, and has served on the Hoffman Estates Economic Development Commission.
Also serving on the BCFPD Board of Trustees is Thomas P. Rowan, who manages the District’s Website and public information efforts. An advertising professional with more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Rowan is President and CEO of a firm that specializes in advertising, communications and web content. He has lived in the District for 19 years and was appointed to the Board in 2008.

The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District, in coordination with the Barrington Fire Department, protects the lives and property of residents within the District by providing emergency fire and medical service. The 48 square mile district serves portions of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington and Inverness; and unincorporated Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.
