BCFPD firefighter/paramedics will lead a series of community training classes this summer and fall to help participants earn CPR certification and become proficient in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). 

Classes will be held at Station #1 (22222 North Pepper Road, Lake Barrington) and are free to BCFPD residents (non-resident fee: $100).

Heartsaver® CPR/AED

Friday, May 18th & Friday, September 21st

6:30 – 9:30 pm

Learn CPR techniques for adults and children, as well as general AED use and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants.  The Heartsaver® course curriculum is designed for non-medical professionals who need certification for work or for community group leadership positions (e.g. scout troop leaders).  We also welcome anyone interested in being better prepared for potential emergencies that may occur in any setting.

BLS Provider Course

July 20th & November 16th

6:30 – 10:30 pm

This course is geared toward first responders and healthcare professionals.  Training focuses on quickly recognizing several life-threatening emergencies and effective CPR administration (high-quality chest compressions, ventilation, and early use of AED units).  Students participate in simulated basic life support (BLS) scenarios and complete a written exam.
