LAKE BARRINGTON, IL—Elections held by the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) Board of Trustees at its May 21st Board meeting resulted in members approving another one-year term for each of the organization’s four executive officers:

Keith Hanson: President

Mr. Hanson, who accepted a third term as BCFPD President, has served on the BCFPD Board since 2015. He has also served as the District’s Vice President.  Mr. Hanson is managing partner of a Barrington-based law firm that specializes in commercial law.

As counsel to many nonprofit organizations, Mr. Hanson has helped establish a variety of charitable and advocacy groups.  He works with local business, government and philanthropic leaders to promote programs that help young people and those facing personal crises.  In addition, he teaches Political Science at Trinity International University, Deerfield, IL.

Mr. Hanson and his wife, Stephanie, have lived in the District for 22 years.  They have five children, all of whom are graduates of Barrington High School.

Thomas C. Long, M.D.: Vice President

Dr. Long continues as BCFPD Vice President, and has also served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer since his appointment to the Board in 1995.  He has lived in the District for 34 years.

Board-certified in Emergency and Family Medicine, Dr. Long is a former Associate Medical Director for the Northwest Community and Elgin emergency medical systems.

Marvin Hill: Treasurer

While continuing as Treasurer, Mr. Hill has also served previous terms as BCFPD President and Vice President since joining the Board in 2003.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts and is the BCFPD’s legislative liaison to the Illinois General Assembly. 

Mr. Hill, a 19-year District resident, is the former owner of a northwest suburban-based printing company.  He and his wife, Jill, have two daughters: Jessica and Alison.

Paul J. Struck: Secretary

Mr. Struck begins another term as BCFPD Secretary.  He joined the Fire District Board in 2013, after serving multiple terms on the Village Board and Zoning Board of Appeals in Lake Barrington, one of the communities served by the BCFPD. 

Mr. Struck, an IT professional and business process consultant, has lived in the area for 17 years.  He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.

New Trustee Appointed

Also serving on the Board of Trustees is Matthew J. Hower, who was sworn-in as the Board’s fifth member on May 21st.  He is Founder and Principal of a private holding company that identifies early stage firms for investment.

Mr. Hower and his wife, Lisa, moved to the District in 2017.  They have four adult sons.
